That said, this treadmill at full retail price falls in the £499 – £1000 price bracket – we have seen it on offer for as little as £449. If you can pick one up for under £450 we say do it – the features at this price break are really quite good.

About the Reebok GT40S Treadmill
The Reebok One GT40s Treadmill is currently the most popular Reebok running machine available. Interested to know why? We thought so!
Featuring ONE Series cushioning, designed to meet the needs of the biggest fitness fanatic, the Reebok GT40S Treadmill sets new standards for treadmills in this price range. Getting fit at home has never been so easy. Using the LCD display console, you can track time, speed, calories burned, distance, pulse and incline level.
Additionally, the incline can adjust to increase workout intensity.
Integrated into the handlebars you’ll find direct speed and incline keys. These are great for quick and safe adjustments during your workout. Adjust the speed and incline setting while supporting yourself – a perfect feature for beginners which ensures maximum safety and user comfort.
How Does The Reebok One GT40s Treadmill Compare to Other Treadmills?
When several treadmills seem similar on the surface we must dig deeper to assess the true value.
We’ve accounted for the running deck size, motor power, incline percentage, maximum user weight and top speed to ascertain where the GT40s Treadmill stands in comparison to other treadmills.
Firstly, here is a list of the top 5 treadmills in this price range. You will notice that the Reebok GT40s does not appear on this list at all.
Below is also a list of the highest-rated Reebok treadmills. The GT40s appears at the bottom of the list.
The Reebok One GT40s has a running area of 130 x 43 cm – is this good?
For the price, we normally find treadmills have a total running surface of between 5,500 and 6,500 cm squared.
At 5,590, the GT40s comes in right at the bottom end. This means that other treadmills in the £499 – £1,000 have larger running areas.
Why is this important? Well, if you’re taller and plan on running, you’re going to need a longer running deck. However, if you’re planning on walking and jogging then this should be fine even for people over 6 feet tall.
We have determined that the running area is not as large as it could be.
Is the top speed of 16 km/h good?
Most of the treadmills we reviewed in this price range had a top speed of 16 km/h. That said, some had even higher top speeds of 18 km/h (the Reebok Jet 200) and 20 km/h (the DKN EZ Run Treadmill and JTX Sprint 7)
A top speed of 16 km/h seems to be par for the course in the £499 – £1,000 price category. This means that the Reebok GT40s is within range here.
Maximum User Weight
Will the 110 kg maximum user weight be okay?
So long as you don’t exceed the maximum user weight, you should be fine. That said, you’ll put less stress on the motor if you’re further away from the maximum user weight.
For this reason, a higher maximum user weight can be a good thing.
We found that the maximum user weight in this price range is about 115 kg. At 110 kg, this treadmill falls short.
Will the 2 CHP motor be enough?
We determined that anything above 2 CHP in the £499 – £1000 be great. As you might suspect, the treadmills at the lower end of the price range (£500 or so) will have smaller motors than those at the top end, but the scale should be about 1.5 – 3 CHP from bottom to top, therefore, at £500 (at the time of writing) a motor of 2 CHP is a little above what you would normally get for this price.
Be careful when considering motor power. Some sites report the HP, and others the CHP. HP is the horsepower. Most retailers quoting this are quoting the maximum HP. So, let’s say they state “2 HP” this might mean that it operates at the maximum power output only when you reach towards top speeds and inclines, otherwise it might operate at a lower power.
CHP is the continuous motor power so it does not change. A higher CHP usually means that the motor will last longer as it is able to accommodate larger people at steeper inclines and higher speeds.
The Reebok One GT40s features a 12% incline – how does this compare?
Most treadmills nowadays have an incline setting. This allows you to adjust the intensity of your workout. Other treadmills such as NordicTrack Treadmills and ProForm Treadmills even come with iFit which allow interactive personal trainers to adjust the incline as you go.
As with the top speed, motor power, and running area, as you move up in price, you tend to get a greater range of incline percentages.
For this price range, incline settings range from 12 – 15%, with 12% being the norm. Anything lower suggests unfair value for money (unless the treadmill excels in other areas) and anything over 12% means that the treadmill is going above and beyond what you should expect in this price bracket.
The Reebok One GT40s has a 12% incline, so this is regarded as good.
If the Reebok GT40s is on offer for less than £499 then it starts to become far more appealing. Unfortunately, at full retail price (currently about £559) the features fall short.
We have, however, discovered this treadmill on offer for as little as £449. At this price, the features excel what is to be expected and we say it becomes worth considering.
That said, even when adjusting the Savvy Score to account for the lower offer price, it still scores 9.2 which is far lower than the DKN EZRun Treadmill and the JTX Sprint-7 which scored 9.6 and 9.9 respectively.
Our advice is to spend a couple of hundred pounds more and get a far better machine, or wait until it is on offer before buying it.
