ProForm Pro 5000 Treadmill Review
We took a good look online and discovered 107 customer reviews of the ProForm Pro 5000 Treadmill. Overall, this treadmill scored 4.4 out of 5.
Quick Verdict
We combined the customer ratings with our own expert analysis and awarded this treadmill a Savvy Score of 9.4 out of 10. This means that the treadmill made it into our Best Treadmill Guide for 2022 as the Best Folding Treadmill.
It is a fantastic machine that outperforms all others in the price range bar the ProForm 9000. With excellent features, positive customer reviews, and everything you need from a treadmill, it is no surprise that it made our best treadmills guide.
- Most of the people who bought the ProForm Pro 5000 said that it feels well built, sturdy, and stable
- ProForm and NordicTrack products are popular due to their iFit connectivity. Many customers praised the iFit workouts which automatically adjust the speed and inline as you work out
- The console is easy to set up and operate, according to the vast majority of users
- The Pro 5000 is easy enough to set up with just one person, however, most reviewers recommend having two people do it
- Folding the machine away is easy and safe, as it moves slowly while doing so
- Fitness Savvy took account of top speed, incline %, feature, motor size, customer reviews, and running surface and determined this to be the best folding treadmill for 2022
- Some customers in the US have criticized ProForm’s customer service and/or the retailer they bought from – in most instances it was Best Buy who were mentioned as being poor
- A couple of customers report misaligned screws which made assembly trickier than it needed to be
- Some users said that the internet connection for iFit kept dropping out – so make sure your internet at home is capable of preventing this (high speed, not too far from the hub etc)

About the ProForm Pro 5000 Treadmill
When determining the Savvy Score of a treadmill, we look at the running area, the features (if it has a fan, speakers, is it foldable etc), top speed, motor size and incline level. The higher these stats, relative to the price, the better. The ProForm Pro 5000 smashed the competition. This is because the features included exceed what should be expected at that price point, and the customer reviews also support the treadmill’s high standard.
The ProForm Pro 5000 has a powerful 3.75 CHP motor – capable of supporting users of 135 kg (300 lbs) up to speeds of 13 mph and an incline of 15%. The Pro 5000 has all the features we expect in a high-level treadmill – so you will get a fan, bottle holder, folding design, transport wheels and speakers.
The running area is one of the largest we’ve seen for this price point, so even taller runners should have plenty of room to stretch their legs while working out.
Customers praised the large 10″ HD touchscreen monitor and said that the iFit function is excellent.
While the treadmill excels in all areas, some customers did have gripes. A couple of buyers reported misaligned screws, however, these were easy to fix once replacement parts were sent out. In the US, we’ve seen quite a few customers criticizing ProForm’s customer service, however, we have yet to find similar complaints in the UK. Finally, some customers said that the iFit kept cutting out before they could finish a workout. This should not be an issue if you make sure your home internet has the technical capability of running iFit.
We have no qualms recommending this treadmill, and if you’re purchasing directly from ProForm in the UK, you can use the 3% discount code below to save more on this model.
Set-Up
Machine set-up
The ProForm Pro 5000 is a mid-budget treadmill, and as such, it takes a little longer than cheaper models such as the Roger Black Easy Fold Treadmill to unpack and set up.
It took us about half an hour from time of delivery to unpack, check the components and dispose of the packaging.
Between two of us, we set this machine up in just under 40 minutes. It was easy and straightforward – as confirmed by many customer reviewers – thanks to some idiot-proof instructions and clear diagrams.
With that said, we did have some issues with some misaligned screws which made building the treadmill a little harder than it needs to be.
Due to the size and weight of the machine, we highly recommend setting it up where you plan to use it – it will be tricky to re-locate, otherwise.
iFit set-up
Some users struggled with setting the machine up without iFit. They fear that you need the subscription to get the treadmill working. This is not the case. There is a button you can hold for 30 seconds to bypass the iFit set-up.
That said, setting up iFit is again easy and straightforward. Just make sure you have a suitable internet connection. If you don’t get a strong signal in the room where you plan to use the Pro 5000, perhaps invest in a signal booster box.
When setting up iFit, (if you choose to use it) you should enter any promotional codes you have for free membership. Either way, you sill still need to enter your credit card details for auto-renewals.
My Experience With the Pro 5000
We’ve tested a fair few treadmills at Fitness Savvy, and we are pleased to say that the Pro 5000 is up there with the best of them.
The running deck is comfortable, the display monitors large and easy to operate, and the features are above what you should expect at this price point.
As previously mentioned, we did struggle with a couple of misaligned screws, but this was a minor niggle in the grand scheme of things.
We can highly recommend the iFit subscription – the sheer volume of workouts is insane and really does make for a great workout experience, however, the treadmill works well even without it.
