Life Fitness Platinum Club Series Treadmill Review
We’ve combined customer ratings with our own expert analysis to award this treadmill a Savvy Score of 8.8 out of 10.
For the price, we would expect more – such as a higher top speed, a decline setting and a steeper incline. Multiple customers said that this Life Fitness treadmill is not worth the price tag – and we would have to agree with them.
As such, this treadmill did not do enough to feature in our Best Treadmill For Home article. Our recommendation is to spend far less on a machine with better features. Our top picks are the NordicTrack X32i – which has a 40% incline and a decline option and scored 9.7 out of 10, or the ProForm Pro 9000 which also has a decline setting.
Both of these treadmills cost far less and will deliver more. Check out the specs and compare deals for these alternatives below.

About the Life Fitness Platinum Club Series Treadmill
The Life Fitness Platinum Club Series treadmill is for serious athletes.
Designed to last a lifetime, this treadmill is built with high-quality components and is packed with features.
The commercially sized Flexdeck running surface is engineered to reduce joint impact – improving the overall feel and making it ideal for those who require a low-impact form of cardio exercise.
At 4 HP continuous, and 8 HP peak, the high-powered motor should last a long time – and is backed as such with the lifetime guarantee.
Life Fitness has stepped up to meet the ever-increasing interactivity demands. The 21.5″ HD Discover SE3 monitor allows users to stream NetFlix and take part in a huge range of interactive on-demand workouts. It is also compatible with Apple Watch and Samsung Galaxy watch and provides next-gen heart rate monitoring.
How the Life Fitness Platinum Club Series Treadmill Compares With Other Treadmills
When investing your hard-earned cash into a cardio machine one of the most important things you should consider more than anything else is how it compares with other machines.
Normally we compare treadmills with others in the price range – that way we are comparing like for like, however, there aren’t many machines at this price point.
Also, once you reach this budget level, we believe it is right to compare the features with lower budget options so you can judge whether the extra investment is worth it.
Firstly, we’ve listed the current top 5 treadmills on our website. As you can see, this machine does not make it onto the list – which is especially surprising given the price difference. The Savvy Score of 8.8 is far lower than the 9.3 awarded to the lowest-rated on the list.
NordicTrack X32i Incline Trainer
Proform Pro 9000 Treadmill
ProForm Pro 5000 Treadmill
Sole F80 Treadmill
NordicTrack Commercial 2450 Treadmill
Next, we’ve compared the Life Fitness Platinum Club Series Treadmill with 3 of the top alternative treadmills.
This image makes it clear – you’re better off spending far less and in most cases, you’ll actually get better features.
Running Area
The Life Fitness Platinum Club Series Treadmill comes with a commercially sized running belt. At 22″ x 60″, the running area will be adequate even for taller people running at high speeds.
The only treadmill we’ve reviewed recently with a larger running deck is again the NordicTrack X32i. With a belt of 22″ x 66″, you’ll struggle to find anything larger.
For the price, again, we would expect all features to be at the top of the range. In all honesty, it’s not something that’s going to massively impact anyone’s workout, however, it does seem odd that cheaper running machines come with larger running areas.
Motor Power
Motor power is a tricky topic – some brands report the CHP (continuous horsepower) while others report the HP.
With that said, Life Fitness state that this machine has an HP of 4, with a peak of 8. We take the lower number as the CHP – which is actually quite high, even if the machine didn’t have a higher peak.
The overall motor power is more than enough to accommodate heavy users at fast speeds and steep inclines – and is backed up by a lifetime warranty.
Incline Percentage
Most treadmills now come with an incline feature. For a lower budget treadmill (£1,000 – £2,000), you should expect at least 10 – 12 levels of incline. You’re doing well if you can get one with 15+.
But the Platinum Club treadmill is not a low budget treadmill, so 15 incline levels don’t far exceed the cheaper options. The Platinum Club Series also lacks a decline setting, too.
If a steep incline is what you’re after, then you won’t get better than the NordicTrack X32i.
Maximum User Weight
With a maximum user weight of 400 lbs (182 kg), the Platinum Club Series treadmill is at the top of the game. We have yet to review a running machine with a higher maximum user weight than this.
Display & Interactivity
On paper, the display screen and interactivity options look great. However, in reality, several customers were not pleased with the unit.
As we talked about above, users should have access to streaming services such as NetFlix and the SE3 console should allow manual workout programing.
In operation, these seemingly simple tasks become difficult. A password must be entered every time you wish to use NetFlix, programing a workout is a headache, and several customers report their console breaking within a couple of uses.
Warranty
The Platinum Club Series motor and frame is backed up by a lifetime warranty. This is one area where this machine outperforms some other brands. Unlike Sole Fitness and Life Fitness (who both offer lifetime warranties on their motors), the NordicTrack and ProForm treadmills we’ve recommended do not come with such a warranty.
However, if something went wrong, you could buy those other treadmills twice – even three times over – and would still have spent less than this machine, so we’re still happy with, and stick by, our recommendations.
