How to Maintain Your Fitness Routine During Lockdown

Lockdown has had an inverse effect on a lot of people’s lives. Your social life doesn’t feel as lively, you may be getting restless at home, and you might find yourself slipping into bad diet habits. All of these are problems people are noticing, and a big one is maintaining fitness.

Without being able to go to the gym, your health may be less than stellar because your home is not equipped in the same way for your fitness needs. Even if you are stuck at home, you can still find ways to get back into your fitness routine. Here is how you can do that.

1. Fix Your Diet

Being at home all the time can lead to some bad diet habits. Snacking all the time may be leading to an unhealthy lifestyle, so you need to fix your nutrition intake. Taking Methyl Life multivitamins, combined with other supplements, vegetables, fruits, and healthy foods, will let you achieve better at-home fitness maintenance. The kitchen is where abs are made, so you need to make sure your nutrition intake is corrected.

2. Get the Right Equipment

Your home might not be as robust as your local gym, but you can still outfit it with enough to make it manageable. Yoga mats, resistance bands, a treadmill/stationary bike/elliptical machine, and free weights (dumbbells or barbells) can allow for a significant amount of progress to be made at home. You can buy this equipment to help round out your home gym to make sure you are not losing out on gains that you would get from your traditional gym.

3. Make a Schedule

Being at home can make you lazy as well. There are a lot of ways to slip into bad habits, the first being that your diet may suffer from snacking or drinking when you spend the vast majority of your time at home. The other problem is not sticking to a schedule. You need to create a workout routine that works for your work or home life and make sure that you are able to follow it. It could be 3 days a week, as long as you make it routine. Developing this schedule will make it easier to stick with it long term, and make it harder to fall into those bad habits.

4. Create a Dedicated Fitness Space

Just like you want to outfit your home with the right equipment, you should focus on making an area of the home that is purely dedicated to fitness. Mixing your work and leisure life creates a bad dynamic, so you want to find somewhere that allows you to keep your fitness goals separate from other parts of your life. It is mostly a psychological effect, but it also can cause clutter and you don’t want to be tripping over weights or getting in people’s way while they watch TV during your workouts. Find a good space, preferably your basement, and make it for workouts.

5. Find a Fitness Buddy

Staying motivated to keep up with your health is much harder when you are doing it alone. The best way to get through this tough time trying to stay active and focused on your fitness goals is to find a fitness buddy. Finding someone to help you with your workout goals helps a lot more. It could be a friend through video chat, it could be a family member in your home, or you could do socially distanced workouts outside your home. It’s much easier to feel like you want to keep up with your routine if you have someone to help you push forward and can help you by helping motivate a fitness buddy too.

6. Take Online Classes

If you find it hard to self-motivate, and stay motivated even with a fitness buddy, then you might want to consider signing yourself up for online fitness classes. There are a lot of ways to get your fitness in with online classes. You can take yoga, spin classes, calisthenics, and a whole host of fitness routines with an instructor who can motivate you a lot more than you could yourself. These classes might be the best way to get in some high-quality fitness at home.

Being stuck at home during lockdown can get to you and one of the biggest problems is making sure you are sticking to your daily fitness requirements. While it is not the same as the gym, these solutions can help you stay on top of your routine to keep healthy.
